Building a high-traffic niche site (putting it all together)
This is the 5th and final lesson in RankXL’s niche site mini course.
We’ve covered a lot of ground over the last few weeks.
Today I’m going to answer some of the most common questions I get about SEO and niche sites.
Then at the end, I have some important information about some more goodies 🙂 So be sure to stick through to the end to catch it!
1. What is the best niche to enter into today?
The best niches are ones that:
– you have at least a small interest in.
– has a lot of keywords that have a ton of traffic volume.
– has a decent CPC.
With Adsense, every niche is profitable. We’re not building some super-targeted affiliate site here. The nature of our strategy depends on traffic volume.
My biggest factor in choosing a niche is traffic volume. More than CPC, I look at traffic potential.
Next, I look at the competition. What I’m looking for are:
– weak backlink profiles to the specific pages.
– weak content, where I can easily create something that will blow their stuff out of the water.
If you can find niches that match these criteria, then you’ll be off to a good start.
2. How long did it take you to get to $100/day?
For me, it took nearly 4 years since the day I first entered into online marketing. I had shiny object syndrome and dabbled in pretty much every online marketing “method” that you can think of.
I never really stuck to one strategy and became an expert at it.
But when I finally decided to stick with Adsense, and used the link building strategies taught in this guide, it only took me 3 months before I went from a few hundred per month to $100+/day.
My advice? Stick to one thing, and don’t chase shiny objects. Niche sites + SEO is one of the most sustainable strategies out there. You can build a real business around it with a high traffic site, and a solid link profile.
That’s exactly what I continue to focus on today, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
3. How many sites do you have?
Even a year ago, I had over 10 sites that I actively worked on, and a handful of others that were just sitting idle and making a few bucks every month.
But ever since my main niche site reached a certain size, I decided to focus primarily on growing it out.
I have only 5 sites that I actively work on today, and the rest have been sold off.
It’s so much better this way, and I regret not doing this sooner.
4. What WordPress theme do you use for your niche sites?
For the longest time, I mainly used my own custom developed themes since I hated how complicating other themes make their back-ends and theme panels.
But for my main niche site, I have recently switched over to the Newspaper WordPress theme and it is converting like crazy.
I love my own custom themes, but the Newspaper theme is probably the best theme for Adsense and niche sites I’ve ever used.
I’m slowly transitioning all my niche sites over to it.
5. Do you offer coaching or mentorship?
At the moment, no. I like my current situation as it is, just working on growing out my niche sites.
If I offer coaching, I would never half-ass it, and with my obsessive personality, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if one of my students wasn’t getting results.
So I won’t be offering coaching until I get some free time off and can dedicate my full attention to it.
6. How soon will I be able to grow a niche site to 4-5 figures per month?
That depends on a lot of things such as your work ethic, skill, and your knowledge.
For me, my main niche site grew to high 4-figures within 4-5 months.
This is NOT an overnight success type of deal. There are ways to make a few hundred dollars overnight online… but they’re short-lived.
This is about building a REAL business out of it, and one that gets stronger over time rather than die off after a few weeks.
Those are the strategies worth learning.
Those are the models worth spending your time on.
7. Should I build multiple sites or just one site?
Definitely one site. The days of throwing up batches of sites are over. It’s much more profitable (and faster) to work on a single site and focus on growth.
It’s the reason I always advise doing the proper planning from the beginning so that you have a lot of room to grow once you start building up traction with it.
8. Will you ever sell your main niche site?
I’ve been offered some pretty tempting offers, but no.
It’s still in the growing stages, and I feel it can grow much larger than it is now.
It’s the thing I always preach about on my blog. Once you build up a lot of authority to your site, it’s reeeaaally easy (and profitable) to GROW.
You can rank for keywords with little to no backlinks, you can rank within days for competitive keywords, and you start driving a TON of long-tail traffic to your site.
It’d be pretty stupid of me to sell rather than take advantage of this power that I’ve built up with the site.
Besides… I’m not really into the whole quick flip game where it’s a build, rank, sell type of deal within a few weeks.
My plan is to just keep growing it out using my SEO knowledge, and then sell it much further down the road when I need a big lump sum of cash, or for some nice retirement money.
9. What do you do in your spare time?
I’m a pretty down to earth guy (or I like to think I am).
I like hitting the golf course on sunny days, or playing some tennis, and maybe grabbing a few beers afterwards.
When I’m at home, I’m a complete computer nerd and am always on the internet just browsing the web, reading blogs, doing research, and working on projects.
I love it 🙂
I hope you got a lot out of this free course.
There are so many moving parts to building and growing a niche site that it can all seem a little overwhelming if you’re new to everything.
But once you really break it down into separate parts, you can see that they all work together. Everything is connected, and it’s not so difficult.
I believe niche sites, especially Adsense niche sites, are the perfect business model for internet marketers.
There’s nothing else that gives you this level of freedom, and passive income online while at the same time has massive growth potential.
With a little guidance (and hard work), I believe that anybody can achieve a full-time income with a niche site.
Could I get your review?
I put a lot into creating courses like this, so if you have a few mins I’d love for you to **reply to this email** with what you thought of the course and what you plan on doing next.
Thanks 🙂 I appreciate it.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: There’s more to come… 🙂
This course, though brief, is a lot to digest. It’s going to take some practice to really implement much of what we’ve covered in your business.
Next week, I’m going to send you a PDF cheatsheet that you can use to implement what we covered over the last few weeks. It’s the literal script of putting everything together.
I’m looking forward to getting that all over to you in a few days, but for the time being I’d *love* to hear your review (I read every email I get).
